Class Band:
Welcome back from what we hope was a restful and fun Spring Break!

 

Looking back on March, we once again want to give a HUGE congratulations to our students in band for their performances at LGPE a few weeks ago! Now, as we return for the final push to the end of the semester, we hope to continue to build off of that momentum in preparation for our Spring Concerts later in May!

 

We are working to push our students for their final performances this year, both in our concert music and in our fundamental exercises. Please continue to keep an eye on any upcoming Google Classroom or in-class playing assignments throughout the rest of the semester! We expect for our students to continue to work on all of these parts of their musical journey to continue to show growth and dedication.

 

Regarding assignments, please encourage students to take advantage of applicable SOAR sessions, or work with one of the Directors to schedule tutoring time as needed.

 

Marching Band:

Believe it or not, we are gearing up to start preparations for the 24–25 Marching Band season! Later this month, we will have our Color Guard and Percussion Auditions, as well as Spring Training. That information was sent out earlier this semester, and was also included in a packet that students can access in the Band Room. 

 

Remember that for all returning marching band members, these events are MANDATORY! This is also true for any NEW marching band members, including rising 9th Graders and current VHS band students looking to join. Please reach out to a Director with any questions!

 

Additionally, Drum Major auditions will be held this Wednesday after school, for all those going out for that position.

 

Region Honor Band:

Students attending Region Honor Band from 4/11-4/13 need to ensure that their permission forms have been turned in to Mr. Mullis ASAP. More info about this trip will be sent out ASAP.

 

Band Booster Meetings:

Our next Band Booster meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7 at 6pm in the Band Room. All are welcome to attend!

 

Tidal Wave Car Wash Ticket Fundraiser:
Our Tidal Wave car wash ticket pre-sale is ongoing! Tickets are available for $10 apiece, and can be ordered from any of our VHS Band Students! Please let family, friends, and anyone else in your community know about this opportunity to support the band!

 

Flute Choir, Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble:
Our performance date for these small ensembles is April 18 at 7pm in the VHS Auditorium! Our students have been working hard and we are very excited to showcase what they have been working on in these chamber groups! For students in these ensembles, please keep an eye on the BAND app pages for specific information about performance, dress rehearsals, etc. Rehearsals will continue as normal for these upcoming two weeks. Also, there will be a Dress Rehearsal for this concert on April 17, time TBD. As soon as a time is established, more info about this required Dress Rehearsal will be sent out.

 

Solo & Ensemble Festival:

S&E 2024 is quickly approaching! As a reminder, the event is set for 4/27 at Thomson MS in Centerville. Students need to ensure they are working on their prepared pieces for a successful performance! We will touch base with those students throughout the month about timeline and expectations.
